Farmers’ Coin: A Practical Medium of Exchange in Uganda

Here at Farm Ventures, we are incredibly proud to see the tangible, daily use of Farmers’ Coin in communities, particularly through the inspiring work of our agent, Coach Stuart, in Uganda.

Coach Stuart, who has a background in teaching about forex trading, Bitcoin, and cryptocurrencies, is now dedicating his efforts to Farmers’ Coin in Africa. He has established his new home in a community in Uganda, in a place called Galilaaya, which is Galilee in English. This is where his mother lives and actively participates in the local economy using Farmers’ Coin.

We are thrilled to highlight how Farmers’ Coin is being used for daily transactions:

  • Accommodation: Coach Stuart’s mother rents out extra rooms at her home for two Farmers’ Coin per night, ensuring a consistent income in our digital currency.
  • Food Sales: She prepares and sells food, with each plate going for two Farmers’ Coin. She also offers a traditional nutritious sorghum cold drink called Obushera Butoko.
  • Marketplace Integration: Her organic bananas are listed directly on our Farm Ventures Marketplace at market.farmventures.org, where they can be purchased using Farmers’ Coin. This demonstrates the direct integration of local produce with our platform.
  • Cash Exchange: We have established a convenient system where community members, like Coach Stuart’s mother, can exchange Farmers’ Coin for cash at a designated cashier’s place. Users simply scan a QR code to send Farmers’ Coin and receive cash in return.

This real-world adoption in daily transactions underscores the value and utility we aim to bring through Farmers’ Coin, making it a truly practical medium of exchange in local communities.
